ECET 2012 Eligibility -  Eligibility to appear for the Entrance Test:
ECET 2012 Eligibility - Candidates should satisfy the following requirements to be eligible for appearing at the ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(Mathematics)]-2012.
i. Candidates should be of Indian nationality.
ii. a) Engineering:
Only those candidates who are presently in the final year/final semester of the Diploma programme or who have obtained Diploma in the concerned branch of Engineering from State Board of Technical Education and training of Andhra Pradesh or any diploma recognized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as equivalent are eligible for entrance test for B.E./B.Tech. Degree courses in the branches of Engineering corresponding, to their Diploma as noted below and as permitted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time.IN ACCORDANCE WITH

Note:
1. For admission into Degree programme in Information Technology, first preference will be given to candidates who have obtained the Diploma in Information Technology. Any seats still vacant shall be filled with candidates who have obtained their Diploma in any branch of Engineering/Technology on the basis of the Integrated Merit Ranking in ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(Mathematics)]-2012 Examination.
2. For admission into Degree programme in Textile Technology, candidates who have obtained their Diploma in Textile Technology (Design & Manufacturing) and Textile Technology (Knitting) must necessarily have completed their Intermediate or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.
3. For admission into Degree programme in Bio-Technology, first preference will be given to candidates who have obtained the Diploma in Bio-Technology. Any seats still vacant shall be filled with candidates who have obtained their Diploma in Pharmacy or Diploma in Chemical Engineering in the ratio of 1:1 respectively.
4. Diploma Holders of Special Diploma course in Industrial Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering/Diploma holders in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering have to appear for ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(Mathematics)]- 2012 Examination in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE) only for admission into Instrumentation Engineering (IE)/Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE)/Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering/Instrumentation Control Engineering Courses.
For Example: An “EIE Diploma Holder who appears for ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(Mathematics)]-2012 Examination in “ECE” course to seek admission into “ECE” branch is not eligible to seek admission into “EIE” course since he/ she has not appeared for ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(Mathematics)]-2012 Examination in “EIE” course.
5. For admission into Degree programme in Computer Science and Engineering first preference will be given to candidates who have obtained Diploma in Computer Science Engineering. Any seats still vacant shall be filled with candidates who have obtained Diploma in any branch of Engineering/Technology on the basis of their Integrated Merit Ranking in ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(Mathematics)]-2012 Examination.
ii(b) Pharmacy:
(i) Candidates who have appeared/passed Diploma in Pharmacy or Intermediate (Vocational Pharmacy course from any institution approved by Pharmacy Council of India) are eligible to appear for the Test in
Pharmacy Course.
(c) B.Sc.(Mathematics):
Candidate should have passed the three year B.Sc. degree examination with Mathematics as one of subjects in the group combination from a recognized university in the state or its equivalent.
iii. Candidates should belong to the State of Andhra Pradesh. Candidates who satisfy local/non-local status requirements as defined in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institution (Regulations of Admission order 1974 and its amendments vide G.O.Ms.No:646, dated:10.07.1979 of Education (W) Department), (See Section 4 for details).
3. Eligibility for lateral entry into B.Tech./B.E./B.Pharm.:
I. Engineering & Technology (Lateral entry to second year):
• As per G.O.Ms.No.57, the candidates satisfying the following requirements shall be eligible to appear for ECET; They should have obtained a Diploma in Engineering and Technology/Pharmacy from the State Board of Technical Education, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh or any other Diploma recognized by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh as equivalent thereto for admission into the relevant B.E, B.Tech and B.Pharmacy courses into the courses corresponding to the Diplomas as given in the Annexure to the G.O. They should have passed the 3-year B.Sc Degree examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the group combination from a recognized University in the State or its equivalent for entry into relevant courses as given in the Annexure to the G.O.
• As per the latest AICTE Approval Process Handbook-2012-2013, an eligibility criteria is revised as under for admission.
Candidates who obtained 45% (40% for reserved categories) of marks at the qualifying examination for both i) Diploma Holders and ii) B.Sc Pass outs (passed 10+2 with Mathematics as a subject) are eligible. However, Candidates shall fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down in relevant G.Os at the time of admissions. (Note: B.Sc.(Mathematics) degree holders are not eligible for admission into B.Pharmacy & Bio-Technology courses.)
• Candidates should have appeared and qualified at the ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(Mathematics)]-2012.
• Candidates who satisfy the requirements as given in item (iii) of section (2.4) of this booklet.
4. Definition of Local/Non-Local Status:-
1. A candidate shall be regarded as a local candidate in relation to a local area (AU/OU/SVU).
a) If he/she has studied in an educational institution or educational institutions in such local area for a period of not less than four consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared or first appeared in the relevant qualifying examination as the case may be.
OR
b) Where, during the whole or any part of the four consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared, or first appeared in the relevant qualifying examinations, he/she has not studied in any educational institutions, but he/she has resided in that local area for a period of not less than four years immediately preceding the date of commencement of the relevant qualifying examination in which he/she appeared, or first appeared, as the case may be.
2. A candidate who is not regarded as local candidate under clause (a) above in relation to any local area shall.
a) If he/she has studied in the educational institutions in the State for a period of not less than seven consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared or as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination be regarded as a local candidate in relation to.
i. Such local area where he/she has studied for the maximum period out of the period of seven years.
OR
ii. Where the period of his/her study in two or more local areas is equal such local area where he/she has studied last in such equal periods.
OR
b) If during the whole or any part of the seven consecutive academic years ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared or as the case may be, first appeared for the relevant qualifying examination, he/she has not studied in the educational institution in any local area, but has resided in the State during the whole of the said period of seven years be regarded as a local candidate in relation to
i. Such local area where he/she has resided for the maximum period out of the period of seven years.
OR
ii. Where the period of his/her residence in two or more local areas is equal, such local area where he/she has resided last in such equal periods.
Note:- Local area in respect of Andhra University (AU Area) includes Nagarjuna University area. In respect of Sri Venkateswara University (SVU Area) it includes Sri Krishnadevaraya University area. In respect of Osmania University (OU Area) it includes Kakatiya University area.
OR
1. Candidates who have resided in the state of A.P. for a total period of 10 years excluding the period of study outside the State.
OR
2. Candidates either of whose parents has resided in this State for a period of 10 years excluding the periods of 7 employment outside the State.
3. Candidates either of those in the employment of this state or Central Government, Public Sector Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities and other similar Quasi Governmental Institutions within this State at the time of submitting the application.
4. Candidates who are spouses of those in the employment in this state or Central Government, Public Sector Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities and other similar Quasi Governmental Institutions within this State at the time of submitting the application.
Note:- Candidate claiming under any of the Categories 3 to 6 and not satisfying the conditions mentioned in 1 or 2 are treated as ‘Non-Locals’ to all three University areas specified above. For full details see the G.O.s. referred to.
5. Reservation of seats in favor of local candidates:
a. For admission into Andhra University, JNTU Hyderabad, JNTU Kakinada, JNTU Anantapur, Osmania and Sri Venkateshwara University Engineering Colleges and Private Engineering Colleges (A - Category):- Admission to 85% of seats in each course of study offered by these University Engineering Colleges and Private Engineering Colleges shall be reserved in favor of and allocated among the Local Candidates in relation to the respective Local areas of the concerned Universities. The remaining 15% of the seats left unreserved in terms of the Presidential orders, shall be made available to both Local candidates and Non-Local candidates in relation to the respective local areas.
Note:
1) The admissions are subject to the relevant G.Os amendments to the existing G.Os issued by the Government from time to time and as on the date of starting the admission process.
2) Some B.Tech. programmes like Bio-Medical Engineering, Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering etc. are being offered by very few Institutions in some regions only. Seats in such colleges will be reserved for local candidates as per the rules of reservations.
3) Government are simplifying orders on sports quota admissions for the academic year 2008-09 and therefore the existing orders are subject to change.
6. GUIDELINES FOR FILLING UP THE APPLICATION FORM OF ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(MATHEMATICS)] – 2012:
Candidates are advised to note the following before filling up the application form:
i. All entries in the Computerized Summary Sheet(OMR cum ICR Form) and Entrance Test Application Form should be in the candidate’s own handwriting (in English) and the candidate will be held personally responsible for any incorrect entries.
ii. Incomplete applications are liable to be rejected. A candidate is solely responsible for any discrepancy due to mistake in filling up the application form by candidate.
iii. Candidates will be considered for lateral entry to such categories for which they have claimed reservation in the application form and have submitted supporting documents. Request for inclusion under any other category  after the last date for receipt of applications will not be entertained.
iv. The codes on Summary Sheet(OMR cum ICR Form) for Branch categories etc., must be entered carefully and correctly.
7. SUBMISSION OF THE APPLICATION FORM OF ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(MATHEMATICS)] – 2012:
Two recently taken light colour background or black & white passport size photographs of the applicant are to be affixed, one each, Entrance Test Application Form and on Computerized Summery Sheet (OMR cum ICR Form) for issue of Computerized Hall Tickets, in the space provided for the purpose. All the photographs must be identical. The photograph affixed to Entrance Test Application Form should be attested by a Gazetted Officer with his office seal across the photograph and the photograph affixed-on the Computerized Summery Sheet (OMR cum ICR Form) should not be attested. Otherwise the applications will be rejected and Hall Tickets will not be issued in such cases.
a. Applications received after the due date and time will not be considered and the fees once paid will not be refunded.
b. Hall Tickets will be sent to the candidates directly.
c. The candidate should preserve the Hall Ticket carefully so as to present it at the time of admission.
d. Appearance for the ECET [FDH & B.Sc.(Mathematics)]-2012 does not entitle a candidate to be considered for lateral entry automatically unless he/she satisfies all the requirements stipulated by the concerned authorities.
e. Candidates must ensure, before the Test that they had been allotted Test centre correctly, corresponding to their branch of study. Any discrepancy must be brought to the notice of the Convener immediately for necessary correction.
